Video game adaptions to television and movies tend to leave a sour taste in most fans' mouths. After so many going awry, Arcane: League of Legends has proven to be one of the better ones, providing context for many of the game's champions after fans have known them for years. The Netflix series tells the story of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun, yet Warwick, one of Zaun's more well-known champions, has yet to be seen.

Arcane tells the origin story of many champions, from Caitlyn to Singed. For many fans, Warwick sitting out on the show doesn't make too much sense, but there may be some secrets the show has yet to tell ahead of the final act. If dedicated fans take the time to look at Arcane and Warwick's lore, there's a strong chance that the werewolf-like champion is already in the show. He may have his origin story told through Vander, Vi and Jinx's adoptive father.

League of Legends' Warwick Lore

Warwick was one of League of Legends' first champions, having been in the game since 2009. While the story behind many LoL champions has been changed and adjusted over time, Warwick is known as the "monster who hunts in the grey alleys" of Zaun. The werewolf was an experiment created by Singed, said to formerly be "a gangster who put down his blade to live a better life, but no matter how much he tried to move on, he could not escape the sins of his past."

Warwick was experimented on to bring out "the deadly beast hidden within a good man," and most of his memories of those days were gone, but he remembers two girls in specific. One screams out "what sounds like a name" as she cries in his memory of her. The other girl wasn't specified much in his lore side stories, but the lines he says to fellow champion Jinx seem to imply she is one of them, saying she was there, and to "let him forget."

Arcane's Themes With Vander

Warwick's lore implies that he vaguely remembers who he used to be, and he's described as seeing a bearded man covered in scars as his own reflection as a result. Vander fits this description rather perfectly, as well as how Arcane first introduces him as "The Hound of the Underground." Vander isn't entirely a gangster who hung up his blade, but he's a retired fighter for Zaun's freedom, having given up after Piltover's enforcers killed several innocents in a bloody battle that left Jinx and Vi orphaned. He takes them in, adopting them as his own afterward. Many people in the show call him out over his past, and he himself makes comments that he can't escape it, fitting with Warwick's League of Legends side story.

Arcane not only gives the backstory for several champions, but also features the origin of Shimmer, one of the drugs capable of boosting the skills of those who use it with an addictive side effect. As part of the story of the substance, Singed is one of the lead scientists, and his employer specifically aims to use it in a psychological warfare scheme to show Vander what lurks within him, bringing out the brute who thought fighting Piltover directly was a good idea. These themes also tie in with what Riot Games has revealed about Warwick's backstory, but the most interesting thing is the connections to Jinx and Vi.

After everything is done, Vander looks to have died after saving Vi from an explosion, with Vi being tearful as flames are all around them - something that matches one of Warwick's memories rather closely. However, the one that matches the most is Jinx, who after being yelled at and left behind by Vi, screams her name for her to come back while sobbing. This ties Warwick's line when talking to Jinx into his backstory extremely well, which almost sells the potential that the scientist LoL champion seen in Arcane could have used Vander to create Warwick.

What adds to this theory is Warwick actually has a line towards Vi as well, asking her who taught her how to punch as she does. Given that Vander is Vi's adoptive father who also fought using metal handguards, this also ties into Warwick's in-game lore relatively closely. However, unless Arcane reveals the truth to the werewolf character, this is just a theory. Even if Arcane doesn't give the story to how Warwick came to be, future League of Legends adaptations may dip into the idea, which should prove exciting for fans.
