Movie adaptations for video games have always been a controversial topic in both industries. It seems to be very tricky to transfer a game's spirit into a show. After many pandemic-related delays, the wait is finally over for all League of Legends fans who were patiently waiting for Arcane — the first animated series based on their favorite franchise. Riot Games first announced the video game adaptation back in 2019, and the initial release was scheduled for 2020.

Prior to the release of Arcane, Vi has been one of the least picked champions in the League of Legends. The two sisters Vi and Jinx take a vast amount of Arcane's screen time, which resulted in a huge spike when it comes to their popularity.

Vi Was One Of The Least Favorite League of Legends Characters

League of Legends features over 150 playable champions, but Arcane chooses just a few of them to focus on. Sisters Jinx and Vi are certainly the most important characters in the series so far, confirming their estrangement and going much deeper into their childhood relationship.

League of Legends champion Vi has been averaging a 3.35% pick rate, which was one of the least picked for the jungle position. The main reason for her absence in the meta was the fact that there are other champions with a similar kit that get the job done much more efficiently. Similar champions like Xin Zhao provide much better engagement options, with reliable sustain making him one of the most obnoxious champions to deal with. Unlike Vi, a fed Xin Zhao becomes one of the most obnoxious nightmares to deal with. One of Vi's greatest weaknesses is the lack of identity in a certain meta.

Vi's Pick Rate Has Gone Through The Roof

Since the release of Arcane, Vi's popularity has gone through the roof in the current League of Legends patch 11.22. Her pick rate has spiked over the last two weeks, and she's currently at a staggering 15%. Vi's slowly climbing her way to becoming one of the most picked champions in League of Legends. However, such a drastic spike in popularity is usually followed up with a drop in win rate percentages.

That's the main reason why after a slight increase, Vi's win rate has dumped to 34%, which is one of the lowest in the game at the moment. This drop is caused by the fact that a big chunk of players have not played her in a very long time. A significant number of new players have transitioned to League of Legends after watching Arcane as well, and there is a big chance that the first champions they are trying to learn are either Jinx or Vi.

Jinx and Jayce Are Not Slacking Behind

Vi has certainly been brought back from the dead when it comes to the Jungle role, but she's not the only champion seeing success after the release of Arcane. Jinx can be considered the main protagonist of the show since the plot mostly revolves around her. She was already a popular AD carry choice for many League of Legends players but Arcane has brought her popularity to a brand new level. At the moment she's being either picked or banned in one out of five games, which is one of the highest in the game. With the new Preseason rune changes, she will most likely overtake Jhin, who's currently on first place with a 24% pick rate.

Arcane is surely making its way into most top 10 lists on Netflix. So far the series proves to be a huge success as it attracts a pre-existing League of Legends fan base, but it also brings new players to the game.

League of Legends is available to play for free on PC.
