Several months ago, the video game publisher Gun Media and the developer Bloober Team officially released a Layers of Fear 2 trailer that provided details regarding what fans should expect out of the forthcoming first-person, psychological thriller and horror title. At the time, the game had yet to receive an official launch date, nor confirmation of its supported platforms. Thankfully, the companies now have a release date scheduled, with Layers of Fear 2 set to go live on May 28, 2019 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Naturally, Layers of Fear 2 is a sequel to Layers of Fear, which is the original title in Bloober Team's psychological horror series. The first Layers of Fear initially came out for each of the aforementioned platforms in 2016, and it eventually received a Nintendo Switch launch in 2018. As of now, though, there's no telling whether or not the forthcoming followup will get a port for the Big N's hybrid mobile console later on down the line.

When it comes to Layers of Fear 2's content, the game centers around a star Hollywood actor of the Golden Age who heeds the call of an enigmatic director to take on the lead role in a film shot aboard a mysterious ocean liner. Unlike in the first game, paintings won't be the medium through which the narrative is driven, as Gun Media and Bloober Team's Layers of Fear 2 will utilize the history of cinema as means to tell the game's story and deliver the scares.

What's more is that Layers of Fear 2 will feature none other than veteran character actor Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination) as the forthcoming title's narrator. Fans need not worry about his voice over abilities, as this won't be the first time that he has performed dialogue for the video game medium. As it so happens, Todd has previously worked on such titles as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 as Admiral Tommy Briggs, lent his vocals to Rodek in Star Trek Online, and even voiced the Vortigaunts in Half Life: Episode 2.
