Voice Actress Laura Bailey, who is most notably known for her award winning performance as Abby in The Last Of Us 2 and Kait Diaz in Gears 5, has done various other V/O and motion capture that fans may not be aware of. Unlike The Last Of Us 2, Laura Bailey has some shockingly minor roles to her credit in the original The Last Of Us.
Naughty Dog is known to hire familiar voice-over and motion capture artists for its titles, though some of the characters they're tied to may not be as familiar. Actor Nolan North, who brought Nathan Drake to life in the critically acclaimed Uncharted Series, voiced the character David in The Last Of Us. Many people weren't even familiar with his character until they saw his name in the credits. Likewise, Laura Bailey has also held a number of roles for Naughty Dog, some more prominent than others. One of the most popular of this group is the starring role of Nadine Ross in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, while some lesser known roles are from The Last Of Us that some fans happened to discovered recently.
Reddit user ZeldaLover2018 was the first to notice her name in the credits. As it seems, Laura Bailey had multiple short roles to play in The Last Of Us. As other users pointed out, she voiced one of the soldiers that catch Joel, Ellie, and Tess in the night, the one where Ellie's immunity is discovered. Additionally, she also voiced a civilian in Boston QZ, the news reporter woman on the TV in the prologue, and, ironically, the nurse in the operating room.
The Last Of Us 2 was riddled with controversies when it launched last year. One of those controversies was in regards to the character of Abby, who as mentioned before, was brought to life by actress Laura Bailey. Abby's character arc wasn't taken positively by some of the dedicated fans of the original The Last Of Us and received quite a backlash at first. Laura Bailey was, unfortunately, caught in this bizarre situation where she received death threats for her role.
Suffice to say, Abby's character was brought to life by some sheer dedication and commitment to her behalf, something that is immensely appreciated by the wider community. The plethora of awards, including the one at The Game Awards 2020, is a perfect example of this. If the ending of The Last Of Us 2 is any indication, Abby's story is far from over.
