Everyone knows the famous Hogwarts houses and their traits. We've got Gryffindor, known for their bravery, determination, and chivalry. They're the gentlemen of the magic world. Ravenclaw, known for its intellect, thirst for knowledge, and incredible wisdom. Hufflepuff, the passive, please everyone sort of house known for their general kindness, patience, friendliness, and loyalty. And finally we come to the infamous Slytherin. Contrary to popular belief, Slytherin doesn't mean "evil." No, Slytherins are resourceful, ambitious, and determined, although they also value self-preservation and selfishness.

So, what of The Last of Us characters? Let's find out! Keep in mind that this is by no means a science, but simply our own opinions.

10 Sarah - Hufflepuff

Granted, we don't know a whole lot about Sarah, so it's hard to judge her. But what we do know would likely place her in Hufflepuff. She is patient, both spiritually and physically. She sticks by her father despite his absences (traits of loyalty also popping up here!), and she waits up for him at night. She also proves kind and selfless, gifting her father an expensive watch on his birthday and wanting to stop for the strangers on the side of the road. Of course, she's also the first to die. Darn Hufflepuffs!

9 Sam - Hufflepuff

We're also calling Sam a Hufflepuff. In contrast to Ellie, Joel, and Henry, Sam often appeared scared, childish, and helpless, displaying non-confrontational traits of passivity. He is also incredibly loyal to his older brother (then again, he doesn't have much of a choice), and he displays traits of kindness and tolerance by quickly forming a friendship with Ellie. He's not exactly brave, he shows no overt signs of wisdom or above-average intelligence, and he's certainly not resourceful or cunning. So, Hufflepuff it is!

8 Henry - Gryffindor

Our first Gryffindor on this list is arguably Henry. Henry shows incredible courage and bravery throughout his brief time in the game. He takes care of his younger brother and protects him at all cost, and even though he likely knows that their group are done for, he keeps a brave face for the sake of Sam.

He is also daring and determined, evident by his do-anything approach to getting him and Sam out of Pittsburgh. Yes, he is concerned with self-preservation, as he left Joel and Ellie behind to save himself, but he knew they would be fine in the end. We'll forgive him.

7 Bill - Slytherin

Bill is undoubtedly a Slytherin, as he inhabits pretty much every single Slytherin trait. He's resourceful, setting up traps, getting cars started, and essentially making himself a home in the deserted town. He's determined to survive, despite his seemingly suicidal thoughts. He's a leader, often bossing Joel and Ellie around and telling them what to do. And above all, he is entirely about self-preservation, walling himself off to the outside world and focusing on nothing but his own self interests. This was an easy one.

6 Tommy - Gryffindor

Tommy is another tough one, but we have to go with Gryffindor. He's courageous and brave, evident by joining the Fireflies to fight against the military oppression found in the quarantine zones. He's determined, as seen by his efforts to restore the power plant and generate electricity. And yes, he is chivalrous as well, offering to put himself on the line in order to bring Ellie to Colorado. It's only Joel's intervention that prevents him from doing so. He's a hero in every sense of the word.

5 Tess - Slytherin

Tess, like many characters seen at the start of the game, is likely a Slytherin. She begins the story as a smuggler alongside Joel, indicating resourcefulness and cunning. She is also ambitious and determined, as she is the one who seemingly wants to get Ellie outside and into the hands of the Fireflies.

Finally, she seems to have some leadership capabilities, as she seems to be pretty well-renowned and respected within the quarantine zone. She might veer a bit into Gryffindor territory in the end, but for the most part, she's a Slytherin all the way.

4 Marlene - Slytherin

Marlene is another pretty easy Slytherin. For one thing, she's the leader of the Fireflies. Seeing as how leadership and determination is one of the key traits of a Slytheirn, we think that's a pretty big giveaway! She also comes across as resourceful, buying weapons off Robert and doing whatever she can to extract the fungus from Ellie's brain. Finally, she is perhaps the most ambitious character in the game, as she wants to research the fungus, find a cure, and literally save humanity. It doesn't get much more ambitious than that!

3 David - Slytherin

David in The Last of Us

Yep, we've got another Slytherin on our hands with David, who is easily the most cliché "bad guy Slytherin" in the game. He's obviously resourceful, as he is willing to resort to cannibalism in order to stay alive. He is also cunning, evident by the way he worms his way into Ellie's circle and gets her to trust him. He is entirely self-preserving, willing to murder and eat other people to stay alive. And finally, he's the leader of his group. Yep, it doesn't get much more Slytherin than that.

2 Ellie - Gryffindor

Ellie is arguably the hero of the story, and she definitely portrays the most heroic traits. For one thing, she is extremely courageous and brave. Not only is she willing to cross the country with Joel and face untold danger, she is also willing to sacrifice herself for the good of humanity. It doesn't get much braver than that. She also shows determination and daring, but above all, she is probably the most chivalrous character in the game. She might be more Slytherin-y in the second game, but we're calling Gryffindor for part one.

1 Joel - Slytherin

And finally, we come to Joel, who is yet another inarguable Slytherin. He's resourceful - one of the major aspects of the game is crafting material from random objects found throughout the world! He's cunning, often outsmarting his enemies and getting the drop on them. He's ambitious and determined, willing to cross the country to help Ellie and find out the truth. He's a leader, both of Ellie and the smugglers. And finally, he is entirely selfish and self-preserving, willing to sacrifice a potential cure for humanity for his own self interests. This one was easy peasy.
