It's easy for players to focus on plotlines of games. Especially action-packed games like The Last Of Us 2. This new 2020 game leaves players thrilled with cults, mysteries, and the challenge of surviving. Not to mention, the entire game is in the United States in a post-apocalyptic setting. It is up to the protagonist Ellie to defeat enemies and stay alive throughout the horror.

Players must stay on their toes while controlling her to prove bravery, determination, and to beat the game, of course. It is easy for players to miss details about Ellie since the plot of the game alone is so captivating. However, the 19-year-old deserves some recognition for defending herself and others against grotesque creatures and cannibals. Below are ten details about Ellie and her life that players likely don't know.

10 Childhood

Ellie does not have the easiest time growing up. She is born around 2018 and her mother dies at quite a young age. The antagonist of the game, Marlene, should care for Ellie after her mother's passing. However, Marlene decides that she has more important things to do.

So Ellie is on her own. She lives in Boston, Massachusettes when America is facing a pandemic due to some kind of fungus. Therefore, she spends most of her childhood in a quarantined military area. Did this game predict the future?

9 Rebellion

Ellie is not exactly a well-behaved girl. She is quite rebellious. A solider helps her settle when she is moving into the military area. Ellie claims that she does not need help and is fine on her own. Ironically, she then gets into a fight because a bunch of boys try to take her possessions.

Ellie is not afraid to use her short temper and violence to put people in their place. However, she maintains a balance between innocent and dark, which is an incredibly deep and beneficial balance for this game.

8 Reuniting With Marlene

Ellie and Riley throw smoke bombs at the militia group, Fireflies, and they are in big trouble. A group member knocks Riley unconscious and Ellie is taken hostage. She ends up getting the blindfold and ropes off and meets back up with Riley.

Suddenly, Marlene appears and the three of them fight off the Fireflies. Marlene hands Ellie her mother's old switchblade. She tells Ellie that she will eventually tell her more about her mother at the right time.

7 Fight With Riley

Riley and Ellie get into a harsh disagreement and they end up separating for quite some time. Ellie joins the military because of a draft, and Riley suddenly returns and bites her neck. It's her way of making a joke about infected people. Ellie is a bit a little annoyed at this joke but is also happy to see Riley again.

The two friends sort out their differences and Riley confesses to Ellie that she is now a Firefly. Riley convinces Ellie to sneak out of the military area with her. She wants to tell Ellie what she was doing when they were apart. It's hard for players to catch this minuscule fight between them.

6 Relationships

Riley remembers Ellie's stereo, so the two friends decide to hook it up in the mall and listen to music. They are dancing on a table when Ellie is abruptly sad. She expresses to Riley that she never wants Riley to leave again, so Riley takes off her Firefly necklace.

Ellie decides to kiss Riley and begins to apologize right afterward. Ellie also dated a girl named Kat a few years later, but they eventually broke up due to unknown circumstances. The small number of players who know about Kat do not know how long they dated.

5 Immunity

The characters in The Last Of Us do not survive the infection from bites. However, Ellie is actually immune to the bites since the mutated infection lives in her body. Ellie meets up with Marlene, and they travel to Salt Lake City to seek treatment for the pandemic.

Ellie's friend Riley passes away from the infection, and therefore, she wants to find a cure for it. It's apparent that the fungal infection is not affecting Ellie at all when she and Marlene arrive at the lab. However, she has a little bit of fungus around previous bite marks. Her immunity is probably why she can save everyone in the game.

4 Musician

One of the only times players see Ellie's emotions come out is when she's listening to Joel play the guitar. Joel, Ellie's mentor, gives her the guitar and tells her that he wants to teach her how to play it. In The Last Of Us 2, the roles reverse and Ellie actually plays the guitar in a house for Joel.

She suddenly puts down the guitar and tells Joel that she is going to kill all of the infected people. This girl's got talent, and the ability to save the world from horror. She seems like the total package!

3 Phobia

As shocking as this is for players, Ellie has fears. Specifically, she suffers from monophobia which is a phobia of being alone. She does not want to be lonely for the rest of her life. Therefore, she fears losing people she cares deeply about like Joel. Her monophobia is due to the abandonment she faces during childhood.

She experiences her mother passing away, Marlene rejecting her as a caretaker, and her friend Riley passing away. She is lucky to be a survivor of the pandemic, but sometimes it weighs on her mentally. It is hard for players to catch onto this weakness when she is defeating infected cannibals left and right.

2 Unskilled

Ellie does not show a lot of skill at the beginning of the game. In fact, she can't even swim which becomes an issue considering there is a lot of water where she travels. She has her mother's switchblade and a gun that Joel gives her, and she eventually uses a hunting weapon.

However, in The Last Of Us 2, she can swim, make and use arrows, and uses much more advanced weapons. On top of these developments, she can play the guitar. It's hard for players to imagine that she was not always this skilled.

1 Tattoo And Scars

Ellie develops scars from bite marks and acid burns. As a result, her ex Kat gives her a tattoo to cover them up. The tattoo covers the scars so well that nobody knows she has them. The only problem is that now she has a tattoo that will forever remind her of her ex-girlfriend.

In addition, she has a mysterious scar on one of her eyebrows. However, players do not know where she gets this scar. Observant gamers can figure out where it came from the further they get in the game.
