The Last of Us: Ellie's Actor Wants to Do Another Game

The Last Of Us 2 Ellie Actor

The voice actor for Ellie from The Last Of Us reveals that she would love to return to work on The Last Of Us 2, provided Naughty Dog continue Ellie and Joel's story.

The Last Of Us launched to nearly-universal critical acclaim, earning itself a rare perfect score from Game Rant and leaving fans clamoring for more of the property's riveting narrative, tense gameplay, and memorable characters. Now that creative director Neil Druckmann has confirmed work has finally started on a sequel to The Last Of Us, there's plenty of reason to wonder where the narrative will go after the relatively open ending for Joel and Ellie from the first title.

As it turns out, Ellie's voice actor – Ashley Johnson – has confirmed that she would be highly interested in joining along for The Last Of Us 2, provided that Druckmann and Naughty Dog choose to pick up from where they left off rather than focus on an entirely new set of characters. The Californian voice actress has been no stranger to the video game industry since her time with Naughty Dog, having provided voices for Minecraft: Story Mode, The Witness, LEGO Marvel's Avengers, and more after she donned the role of Ellie.

Here's what Ashley Johnson had to say about potentially being cast in another The Last Of Us production:

"I feel like if they were to pursue it again, if they were to have another story for Ellie or Joel or that whole world, I would totally jump on board. But you know there's also a part of me that thinks, 'Man, the story could stand alone,' and sometimes we should just leave it alone. If they were to make another one, though, I would love to be a part of it."

When Johnson was asked if she's considered being in the movie for The Last Of Us, she quipped that she would play a clicker. The movie has been stuck in development purgatory for the last two years, although Neil Druckmann confirmed the movie had made it as far as a table reading of the script a little over a year ago. Not much has been heard about the production since, leading many to believe it will endure a long developmental process similar to the Uncharted movie.

We've already compiled a list of expectations we have for The Last Of Us 2, the top item being that Joel and Ellie's story be continued. While there's likely to be a large split between those looking to hear more from the father-daughter figures and those looking for a brand new story entirely, the general consensus is that everyone is excited for the eventual sequel to The Last Of Us. To that end, we'll keep you posted as Naughty Dog releases more information about the game.
