The Last of Us won numerous game of the year awards for several reasons, but the characters are arguably the best thing about the game. While Joel and Ellie understandably get most of the love, the supporting cast of The Last of Us is very strong, with Bill being one of the standouts.
In fact, many have made requests for more content based on Bill that highlights his past. While a lot of this appreciation for Bill comes from his unique attitude, Bill’s Town is also a major factor in the fandom’s love for the character. Boasting as much personality as the man who inhabits it, Bill’s Town is full of traps that he uses to survive in an area that is full of infected. While players get to spend some time there during the game, they only see a bit of the area.
However, a recent video was shared by Reddit user and The Last of Us fan CarlosMadrid89 that provides a whole new look at this memorable location. For whatever reason, CarlosMadrid89 was thrown into a free cam mode after loading back into the game. The gamer wasted no time testing the limits of the free cam, as they quickly moved through Bill’s Town to get a new perspective on a number of different areas. The Redditor essentially takes viewers on a tour of the town, making for an entertaining clip.

Through this free cam, gamers can get a behind the scenes look at how The Last of Us is designed. While it is true that The Last of Us series is full of details, Naughty Dog is careful to only make assets for places gamers will see. For example, while players may be able to see some houses and buildings off in the distance, the ground below them will not be visible, so there are no textures present at all in these areas.
The most interesting bit of this free cam bug is the zoom out view that CarlosMadrid89 provides at the end of the footage. Getting a look at the entire area from above is a lot of fun, as Bill’s Town manages to look small and large at the same time. In the comments, many shared their appreciation for both the level they played and the new look at Bill’s Town that the Redditor provided. A few players also said that this was their favorite part of the original The Last of Us.
While other The Last of Us bugs have given Ellie superpowered arrows and made Joel fly, this glitch is more intriguing than it is funny. Though it will be tough to replicate since this player had no idea why it happened, at least fans have this video of the free cam bug in action.
