The Last of Us 2 New Character Art for Yara Discovered

From what we have seen of The Last of Us: Part 2 so far, Naughty Dog is continuing to the push boundaries of the PlayStation 4's graphical capabilities, doing everything it can to make the game look true to life. For an idea of the level of detail going into the anticipated sequel, a newly surfaced piece of art for the character Yara shows some impressive realism.

The art has apparently been available for a while, tucked between a variety of other pieces in the portfolio of Lead Character Artist Soa Lee. Upon its discovery, the character art was posted to Reddit, where it grabbed the attention of the community. The level of detail is incredible, and anyone will be forgiven for thinking it was an actual photograph due to its lifelike nature . There is no guarantee the character will look this pristine in-game, but let us hope that it comes as close to this as possible.

For those unaware, Yara was part of the controversial Paris Games Week trailer from 2017, with the footage garnering high levels of scrutiny due to its scenes of violence and gruesome brutality. Audiences were also introduced to entirely new characters, which included Yara and her younger brother, Lev. Not much is known about these two, except that they were once part of a group called the Seraphites. Two of its current members were the ones causing trouble in the trailer.

It should come as no surprise to see the kind of next-level artistry in The Last of Us: Part 2, as Naughty Dog is well-known for building detailed worlds. That said, though, this only really extents to the visuals at the moment due to details about the plot being scant at the moment.

When it comes story info, there hasn't been enough shown to piece it all together quite yet. What we do know is that Ellie does return as a playable character. Audiences got a glimpse into Ellie's life years after the first game in a trailer that premiered at last year's E3.

As always, we will learn more as we approach the game's release date, which could be sooner than previously thought if a possible release date leak from a Peruvian retailer is to be believed. There has been nothing from Naughty Dog to confirm the leak, so its best to take it with a grain of salt and continue waiting for an official response. When that will be is anyone's guess, but the steady flow of information being released on the game in the last few months does seem to indicate Naughty Dog is gearing up for some kind of reveal soon.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is currently in development for PlayStation 4.
