Mimicking Nintendo's Nintendo Direct presentations, Sony has started hosting special State of Play events that allow it to reveal information on upcoming games without having to wait for big events like E3 or Gamescom. The last State of Play took place in May, and it's there when Final Fantasy 7 Remake received its first new trailer in quite a long time. Sony has yet to reveal when the next State of Play will take place, but a new rumor making the rounds has reportedly leaked not only the next State of Play date, but some of the games that will be shown during the presentation.
The rumor stems from a 4chan post, so PlayStation fans should take it with a huge grain of salt. However, there have been accurate leaks from 4chan in the past regarding PlayStation, so it can't be completely ignored. At any rate, the leaker claims that the information comes from a "former senior marketing manager" who received an email about the State of Play details. Apparently, the next State of Play will take place on November 1, and will be slightly longer than the previous two State of Play presentations.
Three games in particular are being considered the "most important" for the event. First up is Death Stranding, which will launch just a week later on November 8. With the Death Stranding release date coming so soon after this next State of Play presentation is reportedly set to take place, players will get a look at the long-awaited game's launch trailer during the presentation.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, another November 2019 release, will also be highlighted during the State of Play presentation. But PlayStation fans are likely most interested in the claim that The Last of Us 2 will be shown during the State of Play, and that it will receive a new trailer that reveals its release date.
According to the leaker, The Last of Us 2 release date will be revealed to be May 2020. PlayStation enthusiasts shouldn't expect any other major exclusives to launch between Death Stranding in November and The Last of Us 2 in May, as the leaker also said that Ghost of Tsushima is coming after The Last of Us 2. That game, if the leaker is to be believed, has "encountered considerable delays," but will be getting a PS5 version that will take advantage of the new hardware.
Again, none of this information can be verified and so PlayStation fans should take it all with a massive grain of salt. Sony has yet to officially announce its next State of Play presentation, and even if the leak does turn out to be accurate, plans could change between now and November.
