With the new release to a beloved series, Last of Us Part 2 fans want to get to the action as quickly as possible without a lengthy download speed being too much of a burden.

Last of Us Part 2 is the sequel to the hit game Last of Us developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 4 system back in 2013. The game is set five years after the events of the first game, and players will take control of a 19-year-old Ellie as she deals with a suspicious cult.

After seven long years since the release of the first game due to two long delays in development, Last of Us Part 2 is set to release tomorrow, and fans couldn't be any more excited for what is in store. However, with changes to PlayStation Network download speed, some gamers are afraid of how long it will take to download.

Just like other recent games with substantial file sizes such as Final Fantasy 7, Last of Us Part 2 is broken up into two physical discs to account for the games hefty 100GB storage requirement. Considering that it takes up a massive percentage of the PS4's hard drive, some would think that could take hours on end, but luckily thanks to some tests done, it's been discovered that this won't be the case at all.

DualShockers received an early copy of the game and took the time to test out the download speed. They found that the first install disc started with an estimated 28 minute long download time, but eventually only ended up being about 20 minutes. While this only accounted for 31GB of the total, players will still be able to pick up and play the game after this initial download. Keep in mind that the people over at DualShockers were using a PS4 Pro when downloading this game. If fans are using the standard model, their download time could look a little different than this, although it shouldn't be that noticeable of a difference.

The amount of available space on the PS4's hard drive could also drastically affect how long the game takes to download. There is also a 1.02 update version that players will have to install before playing, but that is only about 4GB in total. However, if fans everywhere are trying to install the update at the same time, this will cause traffic and add more time to the clock. All in all, it will come down to the consumer's internet speed and time of download to determine how long it will take to complete. Hopefully, this doesn't prove to be too much of an inconvenience and gamers everywhere can take the time to enjoy this game properly.
