Day one of the Guerrilla Collective has wrapped up with a slew of newly announced games out in the wild. One of the most unique games shown at the digital event was Lake, a third-person mail delivery indie game published by Whitethorn Games.

Developed by Gamious, players take control of Meredith, a 40-something career-driven woman who decides to take a break from her day to day and return to her hometown. Filling in for her dad, Meredith becomes a mail carrier, delivering mail to the locals while driving around the peaceful town of Providence Oaks. What Meredith does during her three week stay in the indie game is up to the player as she goes on her short personal journey.

Lake seems to have a variety of influences when it comes to gameplay. A third-person perspective is used while walking and driving around town while using a Grand Theft Auto-like on-screen mini map to navigate. As expected, Lake is not in any way like GTA's chaos with the biggest difference being the visual minimalism and an almost tranquil atmosphere throughout the town and its famous lake.

While interacting with the community, Meredith will have plenty of choice driven story beats similar to the Persona series that can range from a simple conversation to a slew of new quests to complete. While details are slim, Meredith seems to be returning for a specific reason. The game's focus on mail delivery will encourage the player to explore the quaint town, run into old friends and make new acquaintances, all while taking in a bit of quiet time.

Lake is expected to release in Q4 of 2020 on PC and consoles.
