Most video game enthusiasts would be hard pressed to find a horror franchise as memorable or influential as Silent Hill. This series, along with Clock Tower and Resident Evil, helped to pioneer survival horror and shaped the foundation of the genre into what it is today. Though, within the last several years especially, demand for a new Silent Hill title has only risen and for a brief moment, Konami gave fans some hope only to immediately take it away.

While the last Silent Hill title was released back in 2012, there was supposed to be a new Silent Hill title that was teased back in 2014 titled Silent Hills. The playable teaser of which impressed nearly all who played it. Though, due to Silent Hills' subsequent cancellation, many fans of the series were left bitter and irritated.

Ever since Silent Hills, many in the gaming community have been wondering when and if there will ever be another Silent Hill release. The newfound success of the more recent Resident Evil titles more than proves that demand for these older horror franchises still exists. Though, Konami recently posted on the company's official Twitter that gave fans some hope.

On the official Konami Twitter page, the company released a sound clip of the air raid siren from Silent Hill 2, leading many fans to believe that a remake of Silent Hill 2 was in the works. However, the Konami Twitter page immediately shut down the speculation by saying that the Tweet was in reference to the success of Pyramid Head being featured in Dead by Daylight.

This was a disappointment for many Silent Hill fans. By now, many in the gaming community have begun to lose hope that there will ever be a new Silent Hill game, especially considering that the most recent news regarding Silent Hill involves a Robbie the Rabbit line of toys.

Though, for many Silent Hill fans, hope still remains. According to a reliable leaker, a Silent Hill PS5 title is supposed to be announced later this year, though whether there is any truth to this speculation remains to be seen. It's impressive that with only one ambiguous Tweet, numerous fans were immediately excited and assumed that a new Silent Hill title would be announced, though only time will tell if any of these rumors hold weight to them.
