Even with the recent excitement of Gamescom in August, the gaming community has no time to rest as September is another month set for some major gaming events. There's PAX West this weekend, the Women in Games Festival running from September 6, and one of Japan's biggest gaming events in the form of Tokyo Game Show. TGS 2022 marks the first time the event has allowed a physical audience in two years, and so it seems many companies are looking to celebrate that with a big announcement.

Konami has a stream lined up for the second day of Tokyo Game Show 2022, and it has already given a hint as to what fans can expect from its presentation. Konami announced on its website that it is planning to reveal a new game that is part of a "beloved" franchise. As Konami is associated with multiple popular franchises, including Metal Gear and Silent Hill, many fans immediately began to speculate on new titles from those acclaimed series.

However, it seems that fans might want to keep their expectations in check. While there has been speculation on a potential Silent Hill remake for some time, it is believed that neither the iconic horror franchise nor Metal Gear will be making an appearance, as these huge announcements would typically be held for a company's own showcase, rather than a presentation lumped in with a load of other companies. This doesn't mean it's impossible that fans will see a new Metal Gear or Silent Hill game, but it could be less likely than some are predicting.

Konami does have access to some other franchises that could fit the "beloved" category. The company is planning a revival of Castlevania, though again this may prove too big of an announcement for the TGS presentation. Some fans have pointed to franchises like Bomberman or Yu-Gi-Oh that could make more sense as being the new game Konami is talking about. Until the company takes the stage at TGS though, it seems no one will know for sure what this new title will be.

As well as Konami, a bunch of other big gaming publishers and developers have streams set up for Tokyo Game Show 2022. Capcom even has two streams ready for the event, with one focusing primarily on its existing and upcoming titles outside of Street Fighter, giving a whole presentation's worth of time to show off new details about Street Fighter 6.
