According to a new report, Konami will make an appearance at this year’s E3, and it is looking to make a huge splash. Konami has a long, rich history of games published dating back to the late 1970s. E3 was once the premier destination for the biggest game and console reveals of the past 30 years but has run into a series of troubles, including data leaks involving the personal information of over 2,000 media attendees.Even before the Covid-19 pandemic made in-person conventions an impossibility, big names were already dropping out of their usual annual participation in what was formally the biggest event on the gaming calendar. It's gotten to the point where Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony will not participate in E3 2023.RELATED: E3 Organizers React to News That Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox Won't Be at the Show This YearKonami has seen its fair share of dramas over the years, primarily with its fraught relationship with its star game designer Hideo Kojima, the mastermind of the Metal Gear series. According to the VGC podcast, Konami is planning to reveal the long-rumored remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater at E3. It is also supposedly showing off a revival of the Castlevania series and at least some of the Silent Hill games the studio has in the works.

The last Metal Gear game of any kind released by Konami was 2018’s Metal Gear Survive, which was generally viewed unfavorably by fans and critics. It was the first and most recent Metal Gear game released after Kojima severed ties with Konami in 2015. Kojima Productions released Death Stranding as a fully independent developer in 2019 and work is already well underway on Death Stranding 2. The voice actor who plays Raiden in the Metal Gear series recently suggested that he may be involved in future projects.

The Castlevania series has been largely dormant since the release of 2014’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, with the series only recently being confirmed to return as a Dead Cells DLC. VGC Editor-in-Chief Andy Robinson said that of all the Konami games that may be shown at E3, the Castlevania title is the furthest along in development. He speculates that at least some of Konami’s titles will be a part of a separate briefing from Sony.

As for Silent Hill, October 2022 saw the confirmation of the long-rumored Silent Hill 2 remake. It is being developed by Bloober Team as a timed PS5 exclusive. Other Silent Hill games in development include Silent Hill Townfall, developed by No Code, the developers behind Observation and Stories Untold. Silent Hill: Ascension will be a multiplayer game with interactive visual novel elements. Finally, Silent Hill f will be an entirely new game that takes place in the Silent Hill universe that will be set take place in Japan. Which of these titles will be shown off at E3 remains to be seen.
