There's no doubt that myriad gamers the world over are familiar with the classic Konami code made popular by the company's original Contra game, as the code has not only become a common pop culture reference, but also has been used as a secret to find in a wide variety of different websites. Now, it has recently been discovered that the American toy manufacturer Fisher-Price has used the famous cheat code as an Easter egg in its new toy controller for kids.

As seen in the tweet below from Chris Scullion, the games journalist bought Fisher-Price's FWG12 Game and Learn Controller for his daughter, and decided to see if inputting the Konami code–up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A–would elicit some kind of response. Lo and behold, it actually triggers several different video game-related sounds and ends with the controller saying, "You win!"

As indicated above, the Fisher-Price toy in question appears to be modeled somewhat after the shape and layout of an Xbox One controller. With this being the case, it would come as no surprise if the people who designed the product are actually gamers themselves, and decided to program the Konami Contra code into the toy controller in order to provide gaming parents with a fun little Easter egg to discover on their own.

With Christmas just around the corner, it's safe to say that there are still myriad folks out there shopping for gifts, and Chris Scullion's discovery with the Fisher-Price controller may lead some gamer parents to pick up the toy so that their youngest kids can play along with them or with older siblings. At any rate, it's definitely cool to see that the Konami Contra code is still going strong so long after its inception, albeit as a completely unexpected Easter egg this time around.
