It’s now been almost one year since Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was released on the PS4 and just a tad over three months since the game made its debut on PC. While Death Stranding was met with mixed reactions from critics and players alike, it seemed clear that Kojima Productions would be back with another title in the future. However, it seems that a new project is already in the works, according to one important staff member.

Ludvig Forssell, the Composer and Audio Director for Kojima Productions has shared a new image on Twitter depicting the audio team's first recording following the COVID-19 pandemic. The picture shows several orchestra members all sitting six feet apart from one another with the string and percussion players as well as the conductor all wearing masks. In the tweet itself, Forssell says that this is the first "COVID recording" the team has done and that it is for an undisclosed project.

While there has been no official announcement as to what this next project from Kojima Productions will be, players have been attempting to keep a close eye on Kojima's Twitter account to see if they can glean any sort of hint. In fact, some players seem to think that the next project will be closely related to Death Stranding, with some pointing to possible hints hidden within Kojima's concept art the popular director has shared.

Sometimes this overzealous attention to details and possible secrets can come back to haunt players, however. In July 2020, enthusiastic players were stunned to hear that Kojima was possibly collaborating with famed horror mangaka Junji Ito on an upcoming project. However, Ito later clarified that this idea was more of a passing comment at a party, rather than a firm commitment of collaboration.

However, paying attention to Hideo Kojima's Twitter isn't always a bad thing. The former Metal Gear game director began a small recurring segment on his account called "Hideo's Musings" where he answers common questions that he receives. In his first Musings, he clued players in on which creators and actors he was currently interested in. This could give players possible insight as to what Kojima could be preparing for this undisclosed project.

While it might be a while before players receive any more information regarding this new project, there are still plenty of ways for these players to satiate their hunger for Kojima products. With Death Stranding receiving a discount on PC fairly regularly, and a novel adaptation of the open world game coming in February, players have plenty of things to occupy their time until this new project comes around.
