Knives Out star Daniel Craig is returning as Benoit Blanc later this year and when he does make that return it will be both on the big screen and one of the most popular streaming services on the planet. Knives Out 2 is supposed to hit theaters and Netflix in the final quarter of 2022.

Following the Oscar-nominated 2019 original Knives Out, Rian Johnson is looking to continue the success of its predecessor with yet another comedic mystery and a mostly brand-new cast. It appears that Craig, who just put an end to his run as James Bond earlier this year, is going to be the one piece that holds the two Knives Out films together, though he'll be joined by another star-studded cast that is certainly comparable to the group that appeared in the first film of what is quickly becoming a popular franchise.

Variety reports that there isn't a great deal known about Knives Out 2 other than it could be hitting the Fall Festival schedule before it eventually hits theaters and Netflix later in the fall or early winter. The publication also said that it expects Netflix to try and win a couple of awards with the upcoming film. The streamer is expected to dominate this year's awards season with several of its movie properties like Don't Look Up and Power of the Dog.

The cast of Knives Out

The story details of Knives Out 2 have been kept under wraps so far, but it is known that production on the film finished in September 2021. It's the timing of when production officially shut down that has some industry analysts expecting that the movie will get released by the end of this year. Of course, as always, the coronavirus pandemic could step in and change up schedules.

The fact that the movie is hitting a streaming platform as well as theaters could be a good sign for the picture releasing on time, even if things aren't looking all that good for cinemas. However, a release date still hasn't been officially confirmed, so things could change as the year goes on.

In addition to Craig returning to Knives Out 2 after starring in the original, he'll be joined some of the biggest names in Hollywood. That includes Matrix Resurrections star Jessica Henwick, WandaVision's Kathryn Hahn, Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista, Ethan Hawke, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monae, Leslie Odom Jr., and Edward Norton. It's expected the plot will once again center around a family mystery, though even that hasn't been confirmed just yet.

Knives Out 2 still doesn't have a title or release date, but it will stream on Netflix and debut in theaters.
