Kit Harington continues to tease fans about his possible Game of Thrones sequel centered around Jon Snow. At the first-ever Official Game of Thrones Fan Convention, Harington spoke about where Jon Snow would be, mentally, in a post-Game of Thrones series.

Game of Thrones ended its eight year run with Jon Snow killing Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) following the destruction of King's Landing. Daenerys had evidently fallen off the deep end into tyranny, and had destroyed the capital city of Westeros in her rage. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) subtly advised Jon to kill his Queen, and Jon did so. He was then exiled from the Seven Kingdoms and went to live with the wildlings north of the (now destroyed) Wall.

Harington broached the topic of how Jon Snow would be doing during a panel at the convention. Harington did not speak on the possible sequel in development, but talked about Jon Snow's mental state following the series finale. He acknowledged that Jon Snow "got off easy", but stated that his sentence was both a gift and a curse; the character now has to live with the knowledge of what he's done for the rest of his life:

"I think if you asked him, he would've felt he got off lightly. At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he's preparing to be beheaded, and he wants to be. He's done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse. He's gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte (Rose Leslie) dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly (Brenock O'Connor), and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that… That's interesting. So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there's always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He's not okay."

Harington remained characteristically tight lipped about the possible Jon Snow Game of Thrones sequel. It doesn't appear that the series was even mentioned during the panel. It may not be a done deal yet; whispers and rumblings about the sequel only began earlier this year, but even George R.R. Martin has acknowledged it's a possibility, and that it was Harington who brought the idea forth to HBO.

The series finale of Game of Thrones can charitably be called one of the most divisive episodes of television ever. Season 8 is considered quite the step down from what came before; threats that had been simmering since the series began fizzled out in just one episode, and Daenerys' turn to darkness was not deeply explored - it occurred in the last three episodes of the series. It does appear that the Jon Snow sequel would respect the canonicity of these episodes, however.

Daenerys' body was last seen being taken away by her dragon, Drogon. Where he was taking her was never addressed, but a popular fan theory holds that he took her to be resurrected by a Red Priestess. Other actors and actresses, such as Gwendoline Christie, have addressed possibly joining the Jon Snow Game of Thrones spin-off, so it's possible that Clarke's Daenerys could be a returning character in the Jon Snow sequel, if it happens - and given Jon Snow's mental state, there would be ample ground to cover both of their conflicting emotions.
