Are ordinary Collector’s Editions not collectable enough for you? Do you look at Special Editions of games and think, “what’s so special about that?” Would you like to spend $275 (plus $14 in estimated shipping costs) for a Signature Edition that really lives up to its name? Well, step right up, because Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has exactly what you’re looking for.

Revealed just today, and available in quantities that suggest someone, somewhere finally bothered to figure out what the word “limited” is supposed to mean as it pertains to video game collectibles, The Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be released in three special editions that set a new standard in extravagance.

In a year that offered players the opportunity to invest in Collector’s Editions that featured everything from a nearly full-sized quiver (Lord of the Rings: War in the North) to a not nearly full-sized — but still quite large — dragon (Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim), what can Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning do to up the ante? It all depends on which of the game’s collectible editions players pre-order.

Available exclusively from the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Limited Editions Store, each of the editions come with a custom parchment map of the game’s world, a custom 7 piece dice set with bag, and a complete set of Destiny Cards, which are featured in the game — but that’s just for starters. Take a look at the full details below.

Kudos to 38 Studios and Electronic Arts for delivering limited, collectable editions of the game that are genuinely limited and collectable.

Needless to say, time is of the essence — especially for players who hope to score a Collector’s or Signature Edition. Three-hundred copies are bound to go fast. We haven’t seen any new Reckoning trailers or screenshots since June, but the massive success of Bethesda’s Skyrim proves that players are hungry for exquisitely crafted fantasy games. Will Skyrim’s many fans move on to Kingdoms of Amalur when the game releases early next year? What do you think?

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning releases February 7, 2012 in North America and February 10, 2012 in Europe on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
