Earlier today, the Xbox Live Marketplace leaked the existence of a Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning remaster, and now it's been officially confirmed. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is presumably coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 11, featuring remastered visuals and more.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a remaster of the 2012 action-RPG that earned decent reviews but failed to generate much success from a commercial standpoint. The rights to the game were acquired by THQ Nordic back in 2018, after the conclusion of a long legal battle between the state of Rhode Island, Curt Schilling, and the now-defunct 38 Studios. The remaster reportedly needed EA's blessing to exist, so it seems as though an agreement was reached.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will included remastered visuals, so it should look more visually impressive than the 2012 version. The game will also boast "refined gameplay," though details on what that means exactly has yet to be revealed. It will also include all of the post-launch DLC that was released for the original, which consists of The Legends of Dead KelTeeth of Naros, and the Weapons and Armor Bundle.

Now that THQ Nordic owns the rights to the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, one has to wonder if this is its way of testing the waters for a possible sequel. While THQ Nordic has largely focused on remasters of games in recent years, its plans to create brand new entries in established IP have not been kept secret. In fact, it has already done so for the Darksiders series, and fittingly enough, the studio that handled the Darksiders remasters is working on Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.

With the Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning release date only a couple of months away, one has to imagine that more detailed information on the game will come sooner rather than later. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how well Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is received in 2020. The original Kingdoms of Amalur is considered underrated by many, so maybe this remaster will be the second chance that the game needs to really succeed.

Assuming the release date information is accurate, fans can expect to play Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning later this year.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will reportedly launch on August 11 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
