Earlier this week, Nintendo rocked the video game world by introducing Sora as the final DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sora's inclusion was no small feat, and Masahiro Sakurai managing to handle the copyright hydra that binds Sora is worthy of applause. Now that Sora is here in the Smash universe, many can't help but wonder how exactly the Keyblade wielder arrived in the company of Mario and friends.

As the release date for Sora fast approaches, the excitement is palpable, with countless fan creations flooding all corners of the internet. Among that fan content are theories, of which fans of Kingdom Hearts are no stranger to. Sora has journeyed to dozens of worlds in his adventures, the world of Smash Bros is doubtlessly another stop on the way, but one Tik Tok video offers up a more concrete explaination of how he got there.

Posted by user xflashdanielx, the brief video with the simple caption "How Sora got in Smash" opens with a section from the opening cinematic of Kingdom Hearts II, using some of the Kingdom Hearts series' memorable music. During this section, Sora is encased in a pod by Naminé so that he can fall into a deep while she restores his lost memories.

After doing so, Sora falls through a white void with his eyes closed, and the video transitions into Sora's reveal trailer for Smash just as he emerges, eyes closed, through a similar white void. Now it's worth noting that the opening cinematics of Kingdom Hearts games are fond of abstract visual symbolism to communicate events and emotions the characters are feeling. While Sora does not literally fall through a void during this moment of the series, the two events transition into each other rather seamlessly.

In fact, the transition works so well, one has to wonder if maybe it was planned that way. Everything from Sora's original outfit, his closed eyes, and the manner in which he appears in the trailer fit together in a way that feels very deliberate. Masahiro Sakurai states during the Smash reveal event that he's played all of the games in the Kingdom Hearts series, it's entirely possible that perhaps he based the nature of Sora's entrance off of a moment in the games and built off of it.

If one were to continue this little rabbit hole of a theory, what does this say about Sora's involvement in Smash? Perhaps he's simply dreaming as he sleeps his long sleep. If that were the case, it's definitely a pleasant dream indeed.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on the Nintendo Switch, with Sora releasing as the final DLC fighter on October 18th.
