During Sony's PlayStation E3 2018 press conference, the tech titan unveiled a limited edition PS4 Pro that came with designs inspired by Disney and Square Enix's forthcoming role-playing game Kingdom Hearts 3 and included a Deluxe Edition copy of the game. Now, some fans who decided to pre-order the item through the video game retailer GameStop are getting messages from the company telling them that their order has been cancelled.

One Kingdom Hearts 3 fan named Kenny Tran decided to take to Twitter to publicly share the cancellation message from GameStop, with the retailer stating that the order could not be fulfilled "due to an unforeseen issue". Many other users on the social media website chimed in to say that they, too, had received cancellation notices. Since the transactions won't be completed, GameStop has said that it won't be charging those affected, and as compensation, will provide a $25 coupon code for their next order through its website.

While it's still unclear as to exactly what transpired to cause the cancellation of these Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 Pro pre-orders, one likely scenario is GameStop having oversold its limited stock of the consoles ahead of the product's release date. It must be stressed that this is unconfirmed as of writing, but it wouldn't be the first time that the company has been thought to have nixed certain pre-orders ahead of launch.

About a couple of years ago, it was reported that Nintendo Switch pre-orders were being cancelled through both GameStop and Target due to stock shortages. The former denied that being the case, though, as the company claimed it was not "cancelling any Nintendo Switch pre-orders due to allocation issues".

All things considered, it's unfortunate to learn that certain players who pre-ordered the limited edition Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 Pro through GameStop will not be able to get their hands on the system and the bundle's contents, especially now that the game is so close to launch. That said, they could always resort to eBay as a backup, but listings for the product on the online retailer's site are incredibly steep.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is scheduled to launch on January 29, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
