Not too long ago, Kingdom Hearts 3 fans were given hope that they would be able to jump into the forthcoming role-playing game around the holidays next year, as the placeholder release date was updated to reflect a November 1, 2018 launch. Of course, since it's possible for the date to change to yet again, fans can at least get excited about fresh images leaking online that involve a new Monster's Inc. world for the title.
As seen in the first image below courtesy of the ResetERA community member who goes by the name "Wrestleman," Kingdom Hearts 3 fans can get a look at what appears to be a fresh world from the colorfully animated Pixar film, with Mike Wazowski helping Sora to defeat a blob-like boss of some kind. The second picture shows that Sully could be joining the party, too, and the image is overlaid with data, potentially indicating that the still was meant to be circulated internally at Square Enix. Even so, they both could still be elaborate fakes.
As a matter of fact, "Wrestleman" even admits to the possibility of the Kingdom Hearts 3 pictures not being genuine, by explaining the multiple unknown channels they went through to get to him. The ResetERA community member wrote, "I have no idea if these are legitimate, but they seem pretty convincing. I have no idea what the source of them is. The person who sent them to me got them from a different person who also did not give a source. The person only told my acquaintance 'got them from a friend who got them from an FTP server where they were quickly removed afterwards.'"
If the above Monster's Inc. realm is truly going to be added into Kingdom Hearts 3, then its inclusion would make for an incredibly computer animated-heavy list of Disney worlds. That doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, though, especially since KH3 has been confirmed to have worlds that Disney fans adore, such as Tangled, Big Hero 6, and Toy Story. Not to mention, there's even going to be a world from Hercules.
Bearing all of this in mind, with many Kingdom Hearts 3 fans anticipating that a Frozen world will be announced for the game next, the possibility for a Monster's Inc. chapter would be a welcome surprise. It's not as if a Frozen world wouldn't provide a great deal of fun for KH3, but Monster's Inc. has a lot more potential when it comes to the imaginative enemy types one could face. Hopefully, though, a few of our favorite Disney-owned properties we want in the game will end up becoming worlds as well.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release at some point in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
