One of the trophies for the PlayStation version of Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory may hint that there's more to the game than meets the eye. The trophy list leaked online around the same time the game appeared in August's Nintendo Direct: Mini, and one trophy in the lot stands out from the rest due to its phrasing and title.

The Melody of Memory trophy list contains 45 trophies in total with 30 of them being bronze, 11 being silver, 3 being gold, and 1, of course, being platinum. Pretty much all of the requirements for unlocking the trophies involve meeting certain thresholds. Some trophies will pop when players destroy a set number of enemies, and some will pop when the player completes a certain number of songs.

The most interesting trophy follows these same requirements but words them in a way that's different from the rest. It's called" By the King's Side," and its description reads "fight alongside King Mickey for an hour." It's the only trophy to single out a Kingdom Hearts character despite the game already confirming that the vast majority are playable.

There are a few reasons why the trophy could have this wording. King Mickey may not actually be one of Melody of Memory's playable core characters. The game may reserve him for special situations that promotions haven't revealed yet.

For example, Mickey could hold a similar role to the one he had in Kingdom Hearts 2. In that game, after the player completes Hollow Bastion's second episode, they can sometimes take control of Mickey if Sora ever falls in battle. Melody of Memory could have a similar mechanic — where if a player fails a song — they can try saving it through Mickey.

Another guess would be that Mickey has his own mode. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory's Nintendo Switch variation has five modes, but the PlayStation and Xbox versions have four. The three fans know about are story, co-op, and COM, which, by the looks of the trophies, stands for "Competitive Online Multiplayer."

The fourth game type has yet to be revealed, but it's possible that it could be some sort of "endless" mode. Mickey's trophy wants players to fight alongside him for a full hour. No Kingdom Hearts OST lasts that long, so it's hard to say where anyone could pop a trophy like this, save for an endless game type.

Square Enix TGS includes Melody of Memory in its line up, so more information will be coming soon. Maybe whatever gets revealed there will clear things up.

Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory launches November 13 for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
