Disney and Square Enix partner with the pop culture toy manufacturer Funko Pop to distribute figures from the Kingdom Hearts role-playing game franchise.

Although Square Enix has promised fans that Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to receive a fuller reveal later this year, the video game publisher and developer has decided to partner with Disney and Funko Pop to provide a fun little diversion for all of the longtime followers of the franchise. As it happens, Funko Pop is prepared to put out a slew of new figures and keychains that will all be based on the Kingdom Hearts series.

As originally reported by GameSpot, Funko Pop is set to produce eight new and different Pop Vinyl figures inspired by Kingdom Hearts, which will include several characters from the entire series. To be specific, Funko Pop is going to put out two variants each for Pete, Donald, and Goofy, while the Mickey and Chip & Dale figures are supposedly going to be the only ones of their kind for the time being.

As seen in the full gallery below, the distinction between the two Pete figures involves one being in color and the other being in black-and-white, while the two Goofy toys have the character wearing his standard garb for one and his knight attire for another, and Donald wears his original clothes for one figure and his wizard getup for another. In addition to the figures themselves, Funko Pop has also put forth plans to release smaller, keychain versions for Mickey, Goofy, and Donald.

According to Funko Pop, a few of the figures from the selection seen above are going to be exclusives for certain retailers. As a matter of fact, fans will only be able to find the black-and-white Pete  at Walmart, Kingdom Goofy at GameStop, and Kingdom Donald at Hot Topic, with all of these arriving sometime in April. When it comes to the keychains, though, fans will be able to get their hands on them sometime in March.

For those unaware, this is far from the first instance of Funko Pop partnering with companies to release figures related to video game franchises. Some of the more recent and popular models revealed by the toy manufacturer include figures designed after BioWare’s Mass Effect: Andromeda characters, as well as ones for Bungie’s science fiction action-RPG Destiny and Blizzard’s team-based shooter Overwatch. Not to mention, Funko Pop teamed up with Bethesda a while back to produce Fallout 4 toys.

Beyond Funko Pop figures, it’s safe to say that Kingdom Hearts fans are eager to learn more about what’s to come with the third entry in the long-running role-playing game franchise. As it stands, not too much is known beyond official details provided by Tai Yasue, the co-director for both Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts 3, with the developer claiming there will be enhancements to combat, story, and much more. With any luck, we will find out even more about the game as the year progresses.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is currently in development without a release date, but it will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
