The Kingdom Hearts series is chock-full of interesting and engaging characters, each with an immersive backstory. No matter their origins, only some will be blessed with an iconic hairdo, making them even more memorable.

Most original Kingdom Hearts characters will consist of numerous defining features, but the most noteworthy trait will usually be a character's hair. Some hairstyles will feature vibrant colors and shapes, while a select few will incorporate some magical properties. There are plenty of reasons why a hairstyle could be considered spectacular, but much of it comes down to the way it is worn.

10 Demyx

Demyx

Demyx is the most eccentric and lively member of Organization 13. He cares little for physical combat and instead prefers to spend his days playing his sitar and, more than likely, styling his hair to reflect his wannabe rock star persona.

He sports a mullet that appears to be well-taken care of. To help him stand out from his fellow mullet-headed peers, he permits three separate strands of hair to fall in front of his face. Though some could argue this is unintentional, the different lengths of each bang would suggest he has styled it this way on purpose.

9 Axel

Kairi, Sora, and Axel

Axel has become one of the most beloved characters in all of Kingdom Hearts for a variety of reasons. He is a loyal friend, a skilled combatant, and a quick-witted entertainer with an iconic catchphrase. All of these traits combined serve to make him an immensely endearing individual, but it is because of this that his most noteworthy trait is often overlooked.

Axel's hairstyle is ridiculous, but it suits his character perfectly. He feels it is only right to style himself in accordance with his personality, resulting in the fiery red spikes atop his head. He is undoubtedly hot-headed, with his hair further emphasizing the fact.

8 Strelitzia

kingdom hearts 4 strelitzia character

Strelitzia has one of the most complicated hairstyles present in the entire Kingdom Hearts series. Her debut in Union X [Cross] presented her with exceptionally long red hair tied into two ponytails and, though Sora's hair received a major change in the trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4, hers did not.

Strelitzia has yet to be seen in a combat situation, leaving fans to wonder if her hair will impact her movement on the battlefield. Most Keyblade wielders will keep their hair short to improve their fighting abilities, but Strelitzia does not. It can be assumed that, even with the impressive cut she chooses to sport, she can vanquish her enemies just as easily as Sora can.

7 Xigbar

Xigbar

Before losing his heart, Xigbar sported a relatively ordinary haircut, but his transition from human to nobody saw him experimenting. Once fond of a meticulously groomed mullet, he sought to revitalize his look by growing his hair out and tying it into a sort of ponytail.

For a man who spends most of his time suspended in midair, the fact he chose to grow out his hair is questionable. Anyone else sporting this hair in a sharpshooter's role would find it to be a hindrance, but Xigbar never lets it distract him from defeating his enemies.

6 Ansem, The Seeker Of Darkness

Kingdom Hearts 3 Data Battle Ansem

After using Riku to reclaim his old body, Ansem introduces himself to be a much less heroic figure than he was once thought to be. It is clear that he thinks quite highly of himself through the way he conducts and presents himself to others, but the style in which he wears his hair portrays him as overtly vain and narcissistic.

It seems a great deal of thought goes into styling his hair due to the various styles it exhibits. He wears the hair on the top of his head like a greaser would but allows the tips to ascend, thus mimicking a sort of windswept style while permitting his hair's full length to sway in the breeze behind him.

5 Ira

Ira in KH Back Cover

Though the full extent of Ira's turquoise hairdo has yet to be revealed, it can be assumed that he sports a stunning head of hair beneath his hood. The small gap between his mask and his cloak permits only a fraction of his elusive mane to protrude, leaving fans to ponder on exactly how much is being concealed.

With any luck, Ira will discard the mask at some point during Kingdom Hearts 4 and allow fans to experience the full impact of his impressive locks in a new art style. The small portion of hair he currently allows to show is nothing short of fantastic, so one can only imagine how spectacular it is when fully exposed.

4 Ienzo

Zexion

For a lover of all things literature, Ienzo spends a baffling amount of time shielding his eyes from the pages in front of him. He has sported the same hairstyle since he was a young child and was once depicted successfully eating some sea-salt ice cream without dipping his elongated strands in it.

Current day Ienzo works as a researcher of the heart and, though his choice of hairstyle should render these pursuits much more challenging, he prospers in this field. During combat, he can clearly visualize his opponent, even if his eyes are all but covered by his overly long fringe.

3 Marluxia

Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories Marluxia

Not many Kingdom Hearts characters will flick their hair and produce rose petals, but Marluxia is an exception. When he's not plotting to overthrow the Organization, he will likely be found adding endless product to his glorious mane.

Though the style of his hair isn't overly jaw-dropping, the pink hue it features is sure to cement him in the minds of all those who encounter him. It is difficult to determine if it actually is hair or not due to the plant life housed within, but denying its spectacular design would be a fruitless endeavor.

2 Larxene

Larxene

Larxene is perhaps the most frightening member of Organization 13 for both her fighting abilities and twisted sense of humor. Though these two traits depict her as a force to be reckoned with, the amount of time she must put into styling her hair is arguably her most terrifying characteristic.

She slicks her hair back to embrace her inner Draco Malfoy but allows two separate strands to protrude from her hairline. Whether this is a stylistic choice or not is unclear, further heightening the mystery she shrouds herself in. It is hard to believe these two antennae-like strands can stand upright given the amount of product she likely places in her hair, but Larxene refuses to abide by gravity's norms.

1 Sora

Kingdom Hearts 4 Sora Mature

Sora's hair has undergone multiple changes since the original game, but its ability to defy gravity remains ever-present. The cartoon-like aesthetic of the Darkseeker Saga was able to normalize the heights his hair was able to reach, but the Lost Master Arc seems reluctant in altering how his hair falls.

Though the volume of Sora's Kingdom Hearts 4 hair has been somewhat downgraded, the fact it maintains the volume it does is truly absurd. The brief glimpse of Sora's new life seen in the trailer revealed that he puts little effort into styling his hair, so it can be assumed that the iconic do he sports atop his head is merely a product of the positions he falls asleep in.
