Recently, there was a leak that a Kingdom Hearts show is possibly in development for Disney Plus, and now it seems there is more validity to that statement.

Kingdom Hearts is an action RPG game developed by Square Enix that takes place among various Disney worlds while also featuring characters from the popular Final Fantasy games. The story follows Sora as he pieces Disney worlds back together and faces off against the forces of darkness, such as Heartless and Nobodies.

The games have been met with commercial success, despite complaints about the series' confusing overarching plotline. And now it might be possible that we will see the story told in the form of a Kingdom Hearts television series for Disney's new Disney Plus streaming service.

A social media influencer by the name of Jeremy Conrad has posted on Twitter, stating that the rumors of the show "are true" and tagging DisInsider Editor in Chief Skylar Shuler, who has now also chimed in with the details he knows about the show so far.

Shuler noted the show will be a series and not a movie, giving more content to indulge in. The series will also be animated by an unnamed studio, which might come as a relief to fans who were worried about a live-action cast. Lastly, Disney voice actors from the original game series will be returning to their roles; people such as Jim Cummings (Pete/ Winnie the Pooh), Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck), and Bill Farmer (Goofy).

At the moment, there is no mention of which original characters from the games are going to come back for the series, or if their voice actors will come back as well. There is also no update about the inclusion of Final Fantasy characters, either. However, if the series is produced, fans could probably expect a retelling of the story from the first Kingdom Hearts game. Whatever the future for Kingdom Hearts is, fans can get hyped for more content after the ending from the third game. For now, we will just have to wait for official confirmation from Disney or Square Enix.
