Kingdom Hearts 3 is the first installment of the franchise to come to a Microsoft console, but that leaves many Xbox unable to play the previous installments in the franchise without having another console. Since Kingdom Hearts 3 is the culmination of all other games in the franchise, Xbox One players are left wondering if they will get to experience the full series.

Today, Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura told IGN that there are currently no plans to bring Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 ReMix or Kingdom Hearts 2.8 to Xbox One. However, Nomura did say that he cannot rule out the possibility. In the interview, Nomura stated that they would need to discuss it with Microsoft, but the conversation has not even started yet. He also discussed the plans for possible DLC after Kingdom Hearts 3 launches.

PlayStation 4 fans have a much easier time playing the entire franchise, but if they are willing to wait until launch, Square Enix is releasing a complete collection of all Kingdom Hearts games, including Kingdom Hearts 3, which likely launches alongside Kingdom Hearts 3. This was announced in tandem with a limited-edition KH-themed PlayStation 4 Pro. No prices were announced for either of these items, but will likely be revealed ahead of Kingdom Hearts 3’s launch.

The other big package for Kingdom Hearts 3 is the Toy Story Deluxe Edition of the game, which comes with Bring Arts figures of Sora, Donald, and Goofy in their Toy Story world outfits. This bundle is available to both PS4 and Xbox One owners. The figures look almost identical to the versions of Sora and crew that have been shown off in the trailers, so it’s a great item for die-hard Kingdom Hearts fans.

It would be surprising if Square Enix withheld the previous Kingdom Hearts games from Xbox One owners since Kingdom Hearts 3 relies heavily on every single story told thus far in the franchise. However, fans will just have to wait and see if Microsoft and Square Enix can come to an agreement on the matter.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will release January 29, 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One.
