The recent Nvidia leak has many gamers buzzing with the possibilities. Essentially, its database of upcoming PC games found its way online, with everything from potential Sony PlayStation game ports to more Final Fantasy remakes appearing on this leaked Nvidia list. All rumors and leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, but as far as legitimacy goes, the Nvidia leak seems fairly reliable, including for unannounced games like Gears of War 6 and Kingdom Hearts 4.

However, while Kingdom Hearts 4 does indeed appear on this leaked Nvidia list, fans shouldn’t be expecting the game to release or even be revealed anytime soon. There are a few caveats that fans should keep in mind, regarding this leak as well as Kingdom Hearts in particular.

The Nvidia Leak May Be Legit, But…

On the assumption that the Nvidia leak is legit, that doesn’t mean everything mentioned in it is coming out or even soon. It includes code names, like Fable’s codename Holland, but that’s not a guarantee a game ever releases. And, at the same time, the database is for upcoming PC games but the specifics for “upcoming” aren’t detailed. Games on this list could be years away, and no one but the actual publisher would really know.

Secondly, it should be kept in mind that this list could contain several placeholders or red herrings. It’s not uncommon in such databases to maintain redundancies, such as the listed “BioShock 2022” which almost certainly isn’t the name of the upcoming BioShock game. If it is including placeholders and codenames, chances are it has listed some items as possibilities—without actually knowing if it’s real. That’s the “gotcha” with leaks like this, as such design would keep fans in the dark as to what is legit and what isn’t, even if the leak itself is.

It's Also Kingdom Hearts at That

While the Nvidia leak is exciting even if fans should still take it with a grain of salt, there’s one thing that fans should also keep in mind: this is Kingdom Hearts. Roughly 14 years passed between Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3, with several spin-off (but essentially required) games filling those holes. Since KH3, fans have seen that trend beginning again with Dark Road and Melody of Memory.

Even if 14 years don’t pass between KH3 and KH4 and the franchise puts out less than half the spin-offs in between, it’s probably still too soon to actually consider Kingdom Hearts 4's reveal or release being a thing. Still, the one thing that can be taken from this leak is that Nvidia seemingly has faith in KH4, and it’s bound to happen eventually.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is not confirmed to be in development.
