A recent removal of the Xbox logo from the Kingdom Hearts website seems to have turned many heads, but the game is still firmly set to come to the Xbox One.
It seems that Microsoft fans are in luck, as the recent panic about Kingdom Hearts 3 not coming to the Xbox One was simply an error made on Square Enix's website. The third main series installment in the long-running franchise will not simply be an exclusive to the PS4, as fans initially theorized.
Some may remember when the Kingdom Hearts 3 website removed the Xbox One logo from its listings, leaving only the PS4 as a release platform for the highly-anticipated third game. Despite many believing the removal to be a mistake, the exclusivity of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 to Sony's console did support to the growing theory that the upcoming game might not make an appearance on Xbox after all.
Since statistics released online by GFK Chart-Track last month revealed that almost eighty percent of sales for Square Enix's Final Fantasy 15 were on PS4, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise if the developer decided to scrap the production of the Xbox version, in order to focus on finally getting Kingdom Hearts 3 the release date it deserves.
However, it seems that Xbox One owners shouldn't worry just yet, as Square Enix have revealed (via ICXM) that the issue was simply an error on their part, and that the third core game in the franchise will be making an appearance on the console. The missing logo has now been added to the site, as shown below.
This isn't the first time that a missing Xbox logo has caused fans to wonder if Kingdom Hearts is a PS4 exclusive, but with the developer/publisher insisting that the game is still coming to both major consoles, it's easy to see the two occasions to be similar errors, rather than something far more worrying. Now we just have to see about getting a Nintendo Switch port made, to add to the list of impressive titles already coming to the soon-to-release platform.
In other Kingdom Hearts news, director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that we will see more from the long-awaited game, as well as information about the Final Fantasy 7 remake, later this year. The reveals will take place at a major event that is yet to be announced, and Nomura was quick to clarify that the games both have a long way to go before being ready to show off fully, but we can say for sure that Xbox and PlayStation fans alike should look forward to the new information.
In the mean time, as we wait desperately for a further glimpse into the development of the upcoming title, we've put together a list of what we think are the '10 Best Character Cameos in Kingdom Hearts'. Does your favorite appearance make the cut?
Kingdom Hearts 3 will release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but no release date has yet been announced.
