Without a doubt, Kingdom Hearts 3 fans have been waiting a long time to finally learn whether or not the third entry in the action-RPG franchise constitutes a definitive trilogy story arc for the protagonist Sora. While the forthcoming game's director Tetsuya Nomura has not declared anything definitive in regards to such matters, he did offer up some teases about the culmination of the KH chronicles up to this point, saying that it will contain "shocking scenes".

During a recent interview with IGN, Nomura has said Kingdom Hearts 3's main theme is focused on "resolution," but that doesn't necessarily mean that one of the "shocking scenes" in question necessarily means the demise of Sora. Whatever fate holds for the KH3 protagonist, though, it certainly seems as if fans should be preparing themselves for an ending to the forthcoming ending that will have major impact.

Going off of the reveal that Aqua has apparently fallen prey to the darkness, Nomura emphasized that Kingdom Hearts 3 will deliver some moments that could potentially leave players reeling. In order to drive the point home, Nomura said, "There are going to be a lot of shocking scenes, especially toward the end of the game. So I think you would definitely need to brace yourselves for them."

Taking all of this into consideration, there's not much to go on as far as what direction Kingdom Hearts 3's plot will play out, but it's safe to say that fans are incredibly excited by the prospect of exploring every world to experience the saga. Unfortunately, though, players are going to have to wait a while longer until hit officially hits store shelves, as it received a delay into 2019. Hopefully Nomura and his team will continue sharing as much about the title as possible to reassure fans the game won't be held back again.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to launch on January 29, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
