Good news for Kingdom Hearts fans today. After much teasing, Square Enix has finally set the date for Kingdom Hearts 3’s upcoming DLC, Re: Mind. Players have known it was coming for most of this year, but now it’s been confirmed that the add-on for one of 2019’s top RPGs will arrive on January 23, 2020 for the PlayStation 4 and February 25, 2020 for the Xbox One. Alongside that announcement, Square Enix has released a new trailer for it.

Or, to be more precise, it will release a new trailer. It was on the Kingdom Hearts YouTube page temporarily, earlier this afternoon, but as of this writing the video has been set to private, rendering it inaccessible to the public for the time being. Fans eager for new footage need not worry, though, as another YouTube channel, AvantViral, manage to reupload the trailer before Square Enix hid it away, and that version can be seen below.

It’s been known that the new content will expand on the game’s story, but the description that accompanied the original upload goes into more detail. According to it, the Re: Mind DLC will tell “the other tale that unfolded” during the events of Kingdom Hearts 3’s finale. Basically, since the game originally kept the focus on series protagonist Sora during the climax, Re: Mind will fill in the gaps and show what the rest of the good guys were up to off-screen.

And if the trailer is any indication, there’ll be a lot for players to see from the other Kingdom Hearts characters’ perspectives. The new footage packs a lot in just two minutes, featuring new cutscenes and gameplay footage showing off Re: Mind’s new playable characters. Included are characters we’ve known will be playable in the DLC, including Riku, Aqua, and Roxas, but the trailer also reveals that Kairi will be playable as well, marking the first time she’ll be playable in a Kingdom Hearts game.

While giving the rest of the cast more screentime, Sora will still have plenty to do in the DLC, as the trailer shows him confronting a few bosses and exploring more of the game’s final area, Scala ad Caelum. Furthermore, the trailer caps off with a quick glimpse at a scene with Sora and a mysterious figure that suggests Re: Mind will further explore what was hinted at in Kingdom Hearts 3’s secret ending.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One. The Re: Mind DLC will launch on the PS4 on January 23, 2020, followed by an Xbox One release on February 25, 2020.
