A fan event for the game Kingdom Hearts Union X is scheduled for this April, and Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts 3 has now confirmed that he will be in attendance.

The free-to-play PC and mobile title, Kingdom Hearts Union X, released in Japan in 2013 and North America in 2016. Like every other title in the Kingdom Hearts series, the game was directed by Tetsuya Nomura, who has been the series' director since the release of the original Kingdom Hearts in 2002. As a result, Nomura is also the director of the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3, which seems to be confirmed for a 2018 release, though the game has long been in development since it was announced at E3 in 2013.

The fan event for Union X, the eighth installment in the series, is to be held at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California, on April 15 later this year. Tickets for the event are soon to go on sale for $20 each, and will be subject to availability. Fans hoping to attend can register here.

The event plans to offer attendees the opportunity to experience a variety of attractions including upcoming in-game content for Union X. Several others attached to the Kingdom Hearts series, including its producer, Hironori Okayama, will be joining Nomura at the event to discuss how they went about developing the well-received, free-to-play game.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Director Set to Attend Fan Event

It remains to be seen whether any information about Kingdom Hearts 3 and its impending release will be revealed at the event, but with several high-profile figures in attendance, it is certainly a possibility. Last year, Nomura revealed the return of Kingdom Hearts' Gummi Ships in Kingdom Hearts 3 following the D23 Expo video game panel, and the director does have something of a reputation for revealing more information about his games than Square Enix might want him to.

One key piece of information would be the game's official release date. The title still has no official date yet confirmed by Square Enix, and there is always a danger of the information leaking via an online store listing or some other source. Kingdom Hearts 3 has not been immune to leaks during its protracted development; for example, just a few months ago, leaked information revealed a new world in the upcoming game.

As the game's release draws closer, Square Enix may want to make that date public before any such leaks occur.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is currently scheduled to release in 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One.
