Yesterday, it was revealed some copies of Square Enix's forthcoming action RPG Kingdom Hearts 3 had unfortunately leaked online. It appears that approximately 30 copies were stolen, with several sold to others, and the thief even posted the game's introduction sequence and first town on his personal Facebook page before it was pulled. This has also led to some spoilers appearing online, which the game's director Tetsuya Nomura addressed in an official statement.

Based on Nomura's statement it appears Square Enix is aware how this leak happened and is working to correct the situation. Kingdom Hearts 3 fans will also likely be happy to hear that the game's secret movie and epilogue cannot be leaked because it is going to be added to the game at a later date – presumably at launch. But it is still best to be safe on social media and online for those who wish to avoid spoilers altogether.

Furthermore, Nomura seemed encouraged by the fact that fans have been issuing warnings to others about spoilers. It seems as if many by now would be in the know about the situation. This is good for the community as a whole, as several fans would be disheartened by spoilers just a month away from release.

Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't the only game to be affected by pre-launch leaks, sadly. The recently released fighting game Super Smash Bros Ultimate was another title whose copies were obtained early and leaked online, to which Nintendo retaliated heavily.

In more cheerful news, just prior to this leak, several official Kingdom Hearts 3 screenshots were revealed by Square Enix. They give players a fresh and mostly spoiler-free glimpse at the Organization, the new Frozen world, and a pair of returning characters. With the game's launch on the horizon, players will finally get their hands on it for themselves - through legal channels - very soon.

Kingdom Hearts 3 releases on January 29, 2019, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
