With Kingdom Hearts 3 finally releasing in just a few short weeks, many fans of the franchise are likely digging into whatever they can to pass the time. Whether it's catching up with the Kingdom Hearts Story So Far collection or checking out the recently revealed achievement and trophy list, there are plenty of ways fans can tide themselves over until the new game launches later this month. And now, thanks to Square Enix, there's a little more.

The Japanese video game developer and publisher recently revealed some detailed images of the Keyblade variations players will encounter in the game. Essentially, these are the Keyblades Sora will encounter as he travels from world to world. Many of these may have been sighted in previous Kingdom Hearts 3 trailers, but this is our first detailed glimpse at the iconic weapon variations.

Ranging from the Pirates of the Carribean Keyblade to the Big Hero 6 Keyblade, this first glimpse will hopefully push that hype train along, as the release date for Kingdom Hearts 3 draws ever closer.

Speaking of hype trains, the identity of the second playable character in Kingdom Hearts 3 has also recently been confirmed during the Final Battle trailer. As many may know, the game's director Tetsuya Nomura first revealed there would be a second playable character back in 2017, and we now know that character to be Riku, Sora's life-long friend and rival from Destiny Island.

Taking all of this into consideration, Kingdom Hearts 3 will hopefully live up to the expectations it has from fans, some of whom have been eagerly waiting since the game's first reveal back in 2013. It's easy to see why this is one of the most anticipated titles of 2019, and hopefully Kingdom Hearts 3 helps this year kick off to a great start.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to launch on January 29, 2019, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
