Square Enix has announced today that development on Kingdom Hearts 3 is officially complete. With no other hurdles in the way, the long-awaited sequel will be ready to ship when it is released early next year.

It has been over a decade since the last main entry into the Kingdom Hearts franchise released, so this is welcome news to fans who have stuck it out through the years. Square Enix made the announcement through the game's official Twitter account, where it also suggested a way for newcomers to catch up on the story.

As a bonus, the company decided to celebrate the event by releasing a brand new trailer. It is a bit different than previous trailers and it is more akin to an American theatrical film trailer, possibly to appeal to Western audiences. While previous trailers contained little to no structure, merely clipping together new scenes with older footage to stir excitement, this new trailer has a narrator who lays things out a bit clearer for those new to the series.

On the subject of trailers, there have been a few quality ones that were only recently released. The first one delves a bit more into the Kingdom of Corona, the world themed after Disney's Tangled. In the Tangled World trailer, we see Sora and the gang's adventures with Rapunzel. This free-spirited companion can help players cross gaps by swinging on her hair, or even use those luscious locks to battle enemies.

A week ago we got the Winnie the Pooh trailer, which actually has very little of the silly old bear, strangely enough. What it does have is a good amount of brand new footage, ranging from new scenes with Organization XIII members to an interaction with a character from the Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] mobile game. As for the Winnie the Pooh World itself, the trailer shows off a couple of minigames, a staple of this world in the series, and the new Keyblade Sora will likely gain from it.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2o19.
