Although many fans are still skeptical about Kingdom Hearts 3 actual releasing in 2018 (even though Square Enix doubled down on that date), progress does seem to be moving right along for the long-awaited third installment in the franchise.

After this morning's trailer debut of Monsters, Inc. world, the developers are now sharing the official version of the game's new theme song. Most games usually don't receive a trailer just for the project's theme music, but then again, most games aren't like Kingdom Hearts in a lot of ways.

The usual Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer disclaimer applies here. This is all in development footage and the final game will feature text and audio in English...

The song, Don't Think Twice by Utada Hikaru fits the franchise pretty perfectly and is likely to be almost as much a tear-jerker for Kingdom Hearts fans as Florence and the Machine's Stand by Me was for Final Fantasy fans. For those who are unaware, Utada has recorded original songs for previous Kingdom Hearts projects and, at this point, is a stable of the franchise for some fans.

In addition to hearing the song for the first time, the trailer also shows off some pretty exciting footage, including that awesome Toy Story world. Everyone following along with each trailer has likely seen most of this footage already, but Riku's appearance and new look is sure to get everyone talking.

Kingdom Hearts 3 releases 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One.
