When Kingdom Hearts 3 was initially announced, fans of the original games were overjoyed. Since then, however, the development path of the title has been a very slow one for some gamers, with Square Enix even confirming earlier this year that Kingdom Hearts 3 would be unlikely to release in 2017, with a release post-March 2018 suggested instead. However, those waiting for new information on the game will be on the receiving end of more details through the D23 expo this weekend, with Kingdom Hearts 3 having a heavy focus.

What's more, the panel itself will be available to those who are unable to attend the D23 expo in person. Disney has confirmed that the event, which is called 'Level Up! The Walt Disney Company’s Video Game Showcase' will be livestreamed via Facebook and Twitch, and promises a look at Kingdom Hearts 3 alongside the likes of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Spider-Man. Interestingly, the company also confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be getting some "special" news beyond that of its Disney stablemates.

Intrigued gamers can expect to see some exclusive game trailers, interviews with developers, and apparently some "special guests" - although exactly who those guests will be remains to be seen. There will also be a focus on gameplay, with popular YouTube gamers JackSepticEye and Strawburry17 playing through some of the titles on show. The D23 panel itself runs from 1pm to 2pm PT on Saturday, July 15.

Those after more news on Kingdom Hearts 3 will no doubt be hoping that the special announcement will be one that finally reveals the game's long-elusive release date. It has been a topic of conversation among fans for some time, particularly with Square Enix suggesting that the game would be likely to release at some point from March 2018 onwards. Hopefully, gamers will be able to have that burning questioned answered sooner rather than later.

So far, however, expectations have been set high for Kingdom Hearts 3. The title made a splash recently through the release of an epic new gameplay trailer, and as such excitement for the title is steadily growing once again in spite of the game's long struggle through development. Hopefully, the title continues to build upon the potential shown thus far through its showing at D23, with the promise of an even more detailed look at the title's gameplay to come.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The D23 expo showcase that includes Kingdom Hearts 3 runs from 1pm to 2pm PT on Saturday, July 15.
