Square Enix unveils a limited edition Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 HD ReMIX Collection, which will be available exclusively from the Square Enix Online Store next month.

With the third installment of Kingdom Hearts still a while away from release, Square Enix have been padding out the waiting time with various releases and collections of the series' catalogue. Following the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 a few weeks ago, Square Enix have now announced a brand new, limited edition compilation consisting of the HD remixes of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and Kingdom Hearts 2.5.

Unveiled on Square Enix's Online Store, this new, limited edition Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD ReMIX is scheduled for release exclusively online on March 28 and is now available for pre-order. For those interested in this limited edition compilation, it costs $50 and will consist of an exclusive collectible Sora pin, as well as the following six Kingdom Hearts games all one a single disc:

  • Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (HD remastered cinematics)
  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD remastered cinematics)

There is also a standard edition of this compilation launching on the same day as the limited edition, which can be pre-ordered anywhere for the same $50 price tag but won't come with the collectible Sora pin.

With Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 now available, the upcoming release of this Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD ReMIX collection, and a line of Kingdom Hearts Funko pop figures in the works, it appears that 2017 is shaping up to be quite a big year for the franchise. With the promise that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be shown off later this year, Square Enix have certainly been working hard to bring gamers' attention to the series, so much so that the company piggybacked on Final Fantasy 7's 20th anniversary celebrations by releasing a Kingdom Hearts styled tribute image.

While there's a set launch date for the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD ReMIX collection, the same cannot be said of Kingdom Hearts 3 just yet. As Square Enix continues development on the long-gestating title, fans will have to make do with the upcoming 1.5+2.5 compilation as well as the recently released Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 remaster, which offers up a teasing glance into what players might expect in one of 2017's most anticipated games.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 HD ReMIX is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4 on March 28, 2017. The limited edition will be available exclusive through the Square Enix Online Store.
