Get ready to fire cannons and take command of the seven seas, because Italian developer 3DClouds has announced its most "ambitious" upcoming pirate-themed project, King of Seas.

Not to be confused with the pirate adventure Sea of Thieves that was recently added to SteamKing of Seas will also take players on an epic quest to hunt for lost islands of treasure and explore complex maps of the expansive oceans.

The action role-playing game will be set in a deadly procedurally generated world, meaning that it will constantly refresh the exploration mechanics within each new game. The dynamic world is reactive and learning, attentive to the players' every action. It will up its difficulty and adapt to give gamers a bigger challenge with each quest. Settlements can be taken over, maps and objectives wait to be discovered, and ships can be customized.

King of Seas will immerse players in an ocean terrain by focusing on naval ship control. The combat system will force the player ship to face off with others by utilizing cannon shots and nautical strategy as well as speed and spectacle. Players will be able to advance skills via a skill tree and choose from three branches of talents.

As for its release date, all that's currently known is what's listed on Steam: 'Ahoy Soon!' But 3DClouds founder and CEO Francesco Bruschi said in a press release that the team "can't wait to share more with you in the coming weeks." More details around the nautical adventure are sure to follow.

King of Seas will release for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One sometime this fall.
