The developer behind Phasmophobia has recently dropped a new trailer that is promising substantial changes and implementations coming to the game. There are already plenty of fantastic co-op horror games out there, such as Dead by Daylight and Back 4 Blood, but "Phasmo" is one that many fans of the genre will keep returning to, especially those in the streaming community. The reason why it's still going strong is because the team behind it, Kinetic Games, is continuing to put out new content and tweak the overall experience.

Of course, it's not a perfect game by any means. Phasmophobia gets its fair share of criticisms, such as those who feel the large maps are a little too "boring," but the indie title has made quite an impact on the horror scene, and was actually one of Steam's highest rated games not long after it was released in 2020. Its co-operative teamwork gameplay mechanic, mixed in with paranormal scares, is a recipe that has been working well for the developer, to such an extent that other similar releases have been coming out from other studios thick and fast.

Now Kinetic is looking to make some significant improvements to Phasmophobia, which is being teased in this latest trailer. The next major patch is being referred to as "Phasmophobia Apocalypse," and will come with a number of changes and new features, with maps chief among them. The video shows that the reworked Asylum map, called Sunny Meadows, will have a restricted version, which will be five small maps in one. There's also going to be a smaller version of the Maple Lodge Campsite, which is being called Camp Woodwind.

The studio has already said it's looking to make Phasmophobia scarier in a future update. This will include the implementation of new sounds and events, as well as changes to the ghost models. In general, it looks as though Kinetic has a lot in store for the game, especially with this trailer for "Phasmophobia Apocalypse" now being shown.

Since releasing about two years ago, it's gone on to become one of the best multiplayer horror games around. True that many veteran players are now so accustomed to how the game works that it ceases to be scary. But this could be why Kinetic is looking to up the terror. Whether fans think it's frightening or not, it's still an interesting take on the genre, pitting teams of ghost hunters against a spectral being, packaged as a sort of paranormal mystery experience.
