Microsoft, in the form of Kudo Tsunoda, appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to show off Microsoft Kinect in its first post-E3 performance. Gamers might remember when Kinect was on the show over a full year ago, and it went really smoothly. This year, however, that was not the case.

With Kinect Adventure's River Rafting the game of choice, Kudo and Miranda Cosgrove took to the streams - and the Kinect took to lagging. As you can see in the video below, Cosgrove's avatar was not only behind her actions, but was super twitchy as well. Granted, there are still several months until Kinect comes out - and a studio full of bright spotlights and a crowd in the background probably isn't the best place for Kinect - but it's still a little worrying:

A lot of people are really laying into Microsoft for Kinect's under-performance here, and it's true - it looks pretty shabby. But remember, Miyamoto himself couldn't get the new Zelda game to work during Nintendo's press conference, though it worked beautifully on the E3 floor - this seems like a pretty similar event here. Perhaps it was the lighting, the background events, or even Cosgrove's ridiculous polka dot dress. That said, in an ideal world, Kinect would be able to pick out the performers from, say, what might be a family member sitting on the couch just watching the game.

What do you think about the video? Do you have anything to add?
