With the summer almost upon us, for some, this means long days by the lake, no school, or simply the summer movie season. For gamers, this means that the biggest event of the year draws ever closer: E3 2011. Since there will be a large focus on Nintendo with announcements regarding their new console and Sony’s upcoming handheld, the NGP, Microsoft will have to have a strong showing in order to contend. Alongside AAA titles like Gears Of War 3, Kinect is expected to make quite the splash, with Kinect Fun Lab one game that could make an appearance at E3 this year.
Kinect Fun Lab is allegedly one of the titles that Microsoft will be showing off, and while nothing more is known about it, it would not be surprising if this title turned out to be a casual game. While it may not legitimize the Kinect hardware for hardcore gamers, the platform is severely lacking in quality titles and something new, whether casual or hardcore, is still an improvement upon a somewhat lacking selection of titles.
Alongside this, it also seems that two more titles may be making appearances at E3 thanks to a posting on the Australian Classification Board. The two titles go by the names Crimson Alliance and Fusion: Genesis and both share Microsoft as their publisher. Similarly, nothing beyond their names is known, but there is a distinct possibility that they could be the newest installments in a few series from Microsoft’s catalog.
With a similar name, could this mean that Fusion: Genesis is the next game in the Fusion Frenzy series? Even more exciting though, is the idea that Crimson Alliance could be a sequel to the original Xbox fan favorite, Crimson Skies.
Sadly, gamers will have to wait until E3 in order to get any more information regarding these titles. E3 2011 takes place from June 7 to 9.
What titles are you most excited to see at the event? Do you think that Kinect will manage to appeal to a more hardcore audience?
