The Epic Games Store has once again refreshed its weekly free games, available from July 9 through the morning of July 16. The stars must have aligned this week as Epic is offering three different games for free. The free games for this week include Killing Floor 2, Lifeless Planet, and the long-awaited The Escapists 2. Epic also revealed the next free game coming to the store. Torchlight 2 will be available starting the morning of July 16.

The headlining game of the week is undoubtedly Killing Floor 2, the cooperative first-person shooter from Tripwire Interactive. It was originally launched all the way back in 2015, in Early Access. Since then, the game has received robust post-launch support, and will continue to as Saber Interactive takes on development from 2020 on. Killing Floor 2 first launched on the EGS on May 7, so this is a quick turnaround for a free release.

Lifeless Planet is a curious game inspired by Cold War-era science fiction stories. In Lifeless Planet, an astronaut seeking life on a distant planet explores 20 different dangerous environments, guided by a mysterious woman. Imagine their surprise when they come upon an abandoned Russian town.

The third free game on the Epic Games Store this week has been a long time coming. The Escapists 2 was originally scheduled to be released on the EGS several weeks ago, but was pulled at the last second due to unexplained technical issues. Those technical issues appear to have been solved, and EGS users can download and play this prison escape simulator entirely for free.

Lastly, starting July 16 Torchlight 2 will be the new free game on the Epic Games Store. Torchlight 2 is a traditional Diablo-style ARPG with great cooperative action. The timing of the free release isn't a coincidence, of course. Torchlight 3 was recently released via Early Access, though funnily enough, it's only available on Steam. A free Torchlight 2 will likely drum up some excitement for the new game.

All of this week's free games will be available from now through 8:00 am PT on July 16. All that's required to pick them up is an Epic Games Store account. Free games are offered on the platform every week, though how long this will last isn't clear.
