Sources reveal that iPhone maker Apple will be teaming up with Paramount to make Martin Scorsese's incredibly expensive new movie, Killers of the Flower Moon. Apple's other new major movie purchase is Greyhound, the WW2 movie that will star Forrest Gump actor and 10-time Saturday Night Live host Tom Hanks in the main role.

Deadline reports that Apple has emerged as the victor in the bidding war for Killers of the Flower Moon, a huge Western movie directed by Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Paramount, which optioned the project, allowed Rick Yorn, the manager of Scorsese and DiCaprio, to begin finding a company to fund the movie after Paramount found it too expensive.

The movie is based on a book about the real-life murders of several rich Osage Native Americans who were killed in Oklahoma in the 1920s after oil deposits were found on their land. While Oklahoma would be giving the production tax credits, the cost of the movie could be between $180-200 million. The Sonic the Hedgehog movie redesign shows that Paramount isn't against spending a bit more money to make a movie right, but it may have felt that this price was just too high.

The deal between Apple and Paramount means that Apple will be funding and making the movie, meaning it will likely be available on its Apple TV+ streaming service. There had been rumors that Killers of the Flower Moon would be exclusive to streaming services but the report confirms that Paramount will be distributing the movie to theatres.
