As the Nintendo Switch's strong run on the console market continues to push on, fans have been demanding more GameCube classics make the jump to the system. From The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker to Eternal Darknessthe console offered some of the most inventive titles in Nintendo's long-running history, leaving many stumped as to why the major company hasn't utilized its incredible line-up.

One of the GameCube's most-requested ports has been Killer7the cult-classic, cel-shaded action game helmed by notorious director Goichi Suda (or as he's better known, Suda51). Interestingly, while a Switch version is definitely not in the works and never has been, it seems the team behind the game's PC port, Engine Software, would be open to bringing it to Nintendo's handheld console in the future.

Speaking to Nintendo Life, the studio's owner and VP of development, Ruud van de Moosdijk, was very open about his interest in potentially porting the game. "As far as we know a Killer7 Switch version is currently not in the works," Moosdijk prefaces his statement by clarifying, before continuing on to state "who knows what the future brings." According to Engine Software's owner, "if Suda-San wants to work with us again we will of course always listen." Although it's far from a direct confirmation, it seems Moosdijk and his team would be interested in the opportunity to one day make a Switch port of Killer7 a reality.

The rumor surrounding Killer7's move to the Switch has been spreading for quite some time now, with the idea finally being debunked last August when Moosdjik came out and admitted that it wasn't happening. Of course, speculation started swirling once again when fans noticed Engine Software was behind the recent re-releases of Suda51's classic games No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2. For those petitioning for a return of Killer7 on the Switch, it's good to know that the port of the popular shooter isn't completely off the table even if it's not currently in development.

For those who never played Killer7 back when it was released, the Grasshopper Manufacture-developed game was a linear shooter with a complex noir plot and stylized visuals. Although it was criticized heavily upon release, it went on to become something of a cult-classic, with a huge fanbase forming around its bizarre story and world. Killer7 was ported to the PC back in 2018, and ever since, fans have been demanding it return to a number of other consoles. Here's to hoping the game will eventually make its way to the Nintendo Switch, although, players likely shouldn't hold out hope for its arrival anytime soon.

Killer7 is available for PC, GameCube, and PS2.
