During last night's EVO 2013 Grand Finals, members of Double Helix Games and Mad Catz took the stage for a brief Killer Instinct presentation. Since Killer Instinct has a strong following within the fighting game community, they wanted to give those fans in attendance at EVO a special look at the game.

While the three live matches played on stage didn't showcase anything new, there was a new trailer unveiled. And hidden at the very end of the trailer was a tease for a new fighter.

If the tomahawk striking the tree is to be believed, then it seems all but confirmed that Chief Thunder will be joining the Killer Instinct roster. The fighter, who dual wields tomahawks, has been a mainstay of the Killer Instinct franchise since the very beginning, so it makes sense that he be included for this Xbox One exclusive.

It's important to note, however, that although Chief Thunder will likely be joining the Killer Instinct roster, he will come at a premium. Double Helix and Rare have structured Killer Instinct as a free-to-play title, with gamers unlocking Jago for free and paying for additional fighters.

Speaking of Xbox One exclusives, we should also mention that the Killer Instinct presentation was met by a room full of boos. However, those boos were not directed at Killer Instinct, but at the game's Xbox One exclusivity.

Unlike E3, where the crowd reactions are carefully edited in the host publisher's favor, this was a pure reaction. And it wasn't good.

Nevertheless, if the reaction to Killer Instinct gameplay is any indication, Double Helix is on the right track. Insane combos, combo breakers, and counter breakers were all well represented during the live matches, and certainly got the fans riled up.

One interesting thing to note about this new incarnation of Killer Instinct is that nearly every combo can be broken, as long as the player is skilled enough. In other words, expect to hear the trademark "C-C-C-Combo Breaker!" catchphrase a lot.

Are you happy to learn that Chief Thunder will be making the Killer Instinct roster? Who do you think Double Helix and Rare should announce next?

Killer Instinct will launch day-and-date alongside the Xbox One this November.
