Last year's E3 contained a decent amount of surprises for Xbox fans, but one of the largest was undoubtedly the return of Killer Instinct. Reappearing as a downloadable exclusive for the Xbox One, some fans were quickly turned off by the game once it was announced that they'd have to invest in a season pass to have access to the initial roster of characters.

Now that the first season of Killer Instinct has finally wrapped up and the controversy has died down, Microsoft has confirmed that a second season will be arriving for the celebrated fighting franchise. While details are slim in regards to what the newly announced season will contain, the company did unveil a new character in the form of a beloved veteran.

TJ Combo, a once great boxing champion from the world of Killer Instinct, will once again be stepping into the arena with the other well known combatants in a bid to return to his former glory. Ultratech will throw everything its got in an attempt to stop Combo's barrage of fists, but whether or not they'll be able to do so will come down the players themselves.

On top of officially confirming the returning fighter, Microsoft teased the inclusion of Cinder in the dying seconds of the trailer. Many will remember him from the original game as a Human Torch-esque brawler that utilized flame as his main weapon. Cinder's return has been desired for quite some time, and while we're still crossing our fingers for Riptor, the new content looks to be shaping up nicely.

The second season of Killer Instinct will be available for download on the Xbox One in Fall 2014, so expect a bevy of new details in the near future. As always, stay tuned to Game Rant for more details on future content arriving in Killer Instinct and everything else gaming.
