After the reveal of the PS5 console design on the recent Future of Gaming stream, many players have started to question what the Xbox Series X will be bringing to the table this holiday season. However, no one seemed prepared for KFC to announce that it will be entering the console cook-off with its KFConsole coming November 12, 2020.

KFC is no stranger to the video game industry. The fast food chain has been operating its KFC Gaming Twitter account since June 2018 where it has shared countless video game related memes, as well as a YouTube channel featuring let's play videos and game challenges. In addition, KFC has released a couple of games like the KFC VR Training Game back in 2017, as well as the more recent I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator.

Now it seems that the fried chicken chain wants to get in on the new generation of consoles with its KFConsole. Unveiled via Twitter, the (fake) KFConsole will support true 4K and 120 FPS. The bucket-shaped console also features cross-play as well as a full chicken chamber.

It's obvious that the KFConsole is a parody of PS5 and Xbox Series X reveal trailers, however that hasn't stopped accounts on Twitter from playing along with the joke. The official Xbox Twitter account replied to the announcement asking, "Can you lay it sideways?", a reference to the recent memes about the PS5 and Xbox Series X designs. Another user asked how much storage the console would have, to which KFC Gaming responded, "2 Terabites."

Fast food brands interacting with the video game industry isn't a new thing. Arby's recently took the time to create amazing cardboard sculptures to celebrate the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. And earlier this year, Ed Boon and McDonald's had a short exchange on Twitter after Boon shared an image of a Chinese restaurant using the classic Mortal Kombat logo.

However, this seems to be the first time a chain has put this much effort into a gaming related gag. Considering its experience with actually developing games, maybe KFC should look into the possibility of making some version of the KFConsole a reality. It's still unknown as to whether the date that was included in the tweet was to joke about a speculated PS5 release date, or if KFC Gaming will have an actual announcement on that date, so it looks like players will have to wait to get more finger lickin' good details.
